Ner Avraham Community Kollel

Ner Avraham is a thriving center which includes a kollel avreichim, daily shiurim, Kehillah programming, and uplifting minyanim. It was founded in 2014 by Rabbi Moshe Silberstein in memory of his brother-in-law Ted (Avraham) Mirkhani.
  • A high-level kollel of 10 avreichim, led by Rabbis Yonason Weiner and Chaim Reinheimer, who are in the beis medrash daily from 9:15-6:00, learning towards semicha from the Chief Rabbinate in addition to learning one-on-one with community members.

  • A thriving and comfortable Beis Medrash where members of the community can come and learn, making use of the large selection of seforim in English and Hebrew.

  • L'ayla: a daily morning learning program, open to anyone who wants a consistent place to learn. Starting with a mussar seder and continuing with chavrusa learning, two tracks led by Rabbi Eliezer Spiegel and Rabbi Wolff

  • 'Chaburas Torascha Keva' – An evening program designed to learn halacha from the sources, based on the curriculum of Rav Yitzchak Berkovits and led by Rabbi Nesanel Odzer, an alumnus of Kollel Ner Avraham.

  • Daily shiurim given by Rabbi Moshe Silberstein in Mussar, Navi, Chumash, and Mishna.

  • An introductory shiur in gemara given by Dr. Fred Stepen

  • Daf Yomi every morning after Shacharis with Rabbi Wolff.

  • Avreichim of the kollel are available to learn during the day, meeting the needs and interests of those with whom they learn.

You are welcome to visit the Kollel during the day and Rabbi Silberstein will be more than happy to discuss available learning options with you.

About Ted

Ted (Avraham) Mirkhani, born and bred in New Jersey, was an individual who used every resource available to him to better the lives of all whom he came into contact with. Successful business man, active Hatzalah member, baal tzedakah, husband, father and a friend – he was there for everyone.

Both in his business activities; providing jobs for people who would otherwise not have means to support their families, or with regard to his private life; giving a kind word and a friendly arm around the shoulder to those in his family, community and beyond – Ted lived to give.

Ted’s life was tragically cut short in 2014 after a prolonged illness, but his legacy lives on in the Community Kollel and Kehilla which were founded by his brother-in-law, Rabbi Moshe Silberstein, and are named in his memory – Ner Avraham.
